As a preferred supplier Souters will be invited to tender for PR, Corporate Social Responsibility and Reputation Management and Media projects across the organisation until 2011. Food Northwest was set up in April last year by the Northwest Development Agency to boost growth of the food and drink sector in the region – a priority area within the Regional Economic strategy. Managing Director Sue Souter said that it was an important milestone for the consultancy. “It is our first public sector appointment and reflects five years of high quality PR service provision in the private sector – not least Warburtons – for whom we have been running award-winning PR & CSR programmes.” “It is also an exciting development for reputation management. Senior PR professionals are ideally placed to advise food and drink companies on reputation as a whole – how to put its nurturing and protection right at the top of a growth agenda.” “We cannot wait to get started.” The consultancy had to demonstrate a very good understanding of the work of Food Northwest and high levels of technical and professional expertise as well as ability to resource a demanding client relationship. Matt Fryer, Strategy and Investment Manager at Food Northwest, said that there had been many bids to evaluate this year – more than ever before – and Souters had done very well to get selected. “We look forward to working with the Souters team. Their experience, especially relating to UK flagship food brand Warburtons as well as healthy eating – one of the key themes of our five year plan – will be invaluable.”
