Souters has launched a new corporate responsibility initiative for leading accident management business Easi-Drive, which will see around £60,000 distributed to good causes and organisations in the next 12 months. Led by Easi-Drive’s Managing Director Simon Bellamy, Wheelsforgood is a bursary scheme where anyone can apply for cash or use of vehicles or even employees to get fund-raising. And the only criteria? It must have wheels involved. Causes supported to date include £1000 to a BMX bike club in the South East, £2700 towards advanced driving courses for 17-26 year olds, the donation of a mini bus for a day to a local Brownie group and a £2500 donation to leading disabled children’s charity Whizz Kidz. “It’s a fantastic scheme, and we are really excited about its potential to do great things in our community,” said Simon. The Wythenshawe-based company, which was runner up in the 2009 MEN Business of the Year ‘Turnover of £10m-£25m’ category and came in at number 51 in the prestigious2009 Sunday Times Fast Track Top 100, is now requesting people to approach its website – www.easidrive.co.uk/wheelsforgood and start to pitch ideas to the team. “The scope of projects we can get involved in is vast,” continued Simon. “We are even looking at increasing the bursary pot by inviting our customers to pay us more promptly. If they do we will donate 1% of that invoice to the initiative which could increase it by £150,000 a year!” Emma Beardsley, Account Director at Souters, whose team has shaped Easi-Drive’s approach to the project and is handling responses, said that enthusiasm was growing inside and outside the company. “Every cause is worthy, so we helped Easi-Drive think strategically about a scheme which was bespoke to them and their area of operation which could be engaging for customers and corporate third parties. With every donation comes a media relations opportunity, which spreads the word about the cause and helps Easi-Drive communicate its values.” For more information or to put in a request for funding go to www.easidrive.com/wheelsforgood or contact Emma Beardsley at Souters on 0161 486 9102 or email emma@souter-rmc.co.uk.
